ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥

Andhhaer Binaas ||
गिआन अंजनु गुरि दीआ अगिआन अंधेर बिनासु ॥
The Guru has given the healing
ointment of spiritual wisdom, and dispelled the darkness of ignorance.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥

संतसंगि अंतरि प्रभु डीठा ॥
In the Society of the Saints, I see
God deep within my being.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
Naam Prabhoo Kaa Laagaa Meethaa
||
नामु प्रभू का लागा मीठा ॥
God's Name is sweet to me.
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਿਗ੍ਰੀ ਏਕਸੁ ਘਟ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Sagal Samigree Eaekas Ghatt Maahi
||
सगल समिग्री एकसु घट माहि ॥
All things are contained in the
Heart of the One,
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਨਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਹਿ ॥
Anik Rang Naanaa Dhrisattaahi ||
अनिक रंग नाना द्रिसटाहि ॥
Although they appear in so many
various colors.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

नउ निधि अम्रितु प्रभ का नामु ॥
The nine treasures are in the
Ambrosial Name of God.
ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Dhaehee Mehi Eis Kaa Bisraam ||
देही महि इस का बिस्रामु ॥
Within the human body is its place
of rest.
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਤਹ ਨਾਦ ॥
Sunn Samaadhh Anehath Theh Naadh
||
सुंन समाधि अनहत तह नाद ॥
The Deepest Samaadhi, and the
unstruck sound current of the Naad are there.
ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥

||
कहनु न जाई अचरज बिसमाद ॥
The wonder and marvel of it cannot
be described.
ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
Thin Dhaekhiaa Jis Aap Dhikhaaeae
||
तिनि देखिआ जिसु आपि दिखाए ॥
He alone sees it, unto whom God
Himself reveals it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥

O Nanak, that humble being

सो अंतरि सो बाहरि अनंत ॥
The Infinite Lord is inside, and
outside as well.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਿਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥

Bhagavanth ||
घटि घटि बिआपि रहिआ भगवंत ॥
Deep within each and every heart,
the Lord God is pervading.
ਧਰਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਆਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
Dhharan Maahi Aakaas Paeiaal ||
धरनि माहि आकास पइआल ॥
In the earth, in the Akaashic
ethers, and in the nether regions of the underworld
ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Sarab Lok Pooran Prathipaal ||
सरब लोक पूरन प्रतिपाल ॥
In all worlds, He is the Perfect
Cherisher.
ਬਨਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਰਬਤਿ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
Ban Thin Parabath Hai Paarabreham
||
बनि तिनि परबति है पारब्रहमु ॥
In the forests, fields and
mountains, He is the Supreme Lord God.
ਜੈਸੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਤੈਸਾ ਕਰਮੁ ॥
Jaisee Aagiaa Thaisaa Karam ||
जैसी आगिआ तैसा करमु ॥
As He orders, so do His creatures
act.
ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Poun Paanee Baisanthar Maahi ||
पउण पाणी बैसंतर माहि ॥
He permeates the winds and the
waters.
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸੇ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Chaar Kuntt Dheh Dhisae Samaahi
||
चारि कुंट दह दिसे समाहि ॥
He is pervading in the four corners
and in the ten directions.
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਭਿੰਨ ਨਹੀ ਕੋ ਠਾਉ ॥
This Thae Bhinn Nehee Ko Thaao ||
तिस ते भिंन नही को ठाउ ॥
Without Him, there is no place at
all.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਉ ॥੨॥

बेद पुरान सिम्रिति महि देखु ॥
See Him in the Vedas, the Puraanas
and the Simritees.
ਸਸੀਅਰ ਸੂਰ ਨਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਤ੍ਰ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
Saseear Soor Nakhyathr Mehi Eaek

ससीअर सूर नख्यत्र महि एकु ॥
In the moon, the sun and the stars,
He is the One.
ਬਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
Baanee Prabh Kee Sabh Ko Bolai ||
बाणी प्रभ की सभु को बोलै ॥
The Bani of God's Word is spoken by
everyone.
ਆਪਿ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਡੋਲੈ ॥
Aap Addol N Kabehoo Ddolai ||
आपि अडोलु न कबहू डोलै ॥
He Himself is unwavering - He never
wavers.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਖੇਲ ॥
Sarab Kalaa Kar Khaelai Khael ||
सरब कला करि खेलै खेल ॥
With absolute power, He plays His
play.
ਮੋਲਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣਹ ਅਮੋਲ ॥
Mol N Paaeeai Guneh Amol ||
मोलि न पाईऐ गुणह अमोल ॥
His value cannot be estimated; His
virtues are invaluable.
ਸਰਬ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ॥

सरब जोति महि जा की जोति ॥
In all light, is His Light.
ਧਾਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ॥

धारि रहिओ सुआमी ओति पोति ॥
The Lord and Master supports the
weave of the fabric of the universe.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਰਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥

गुर परसादि भरम का नासु ॥
By Guru's Grace, doubt is dispelled.

संत जना कै हिरदै सभि धरम ॥
In the heart of the Saint,
everything is Dharma.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਸੁਭ ਬਚਨ ॥
Santh Janaa Sunehi Subh Bachan ||
संत जना सुनहि सुभ बचन ॥
The Saint hears words of goodness.
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪੀ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚਨ ॥
Sarab Biaapee Raam Sang Rachan ||
सरब बिआपी राम संगि रचन ॥
He is absorbed in the All-pervading
Lord.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਰਹਤ ॥
Jin Jaathaa This Kee Eih Rehath
||
जिनि जाता तिस की इह रहत ॥
This is the way of life of one who
knows God.
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਭਿ ਕਹਤ ॥
Sath Bachan Saadhhoo Sabh Kehath
||
सति बचन साधू सभि कहत ॥
True are all the words spoken by the
Holy.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
Jo Jo Hoe Soee Sukh Maanai ||
जो जो होइ सोई सुखु मानै ॥
Whatever happens, he peacefully
accepts.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Karan Karaavanehaar Prabh Jaanai
||
करन करावनहारु प्रभु जानै ॥
He knows God as the Doer, the Cause
of causes.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥
Anthar Basae Baahar Bhee Ouhee ||
अंतरि बसे बाहरि भी ओही ॥
He dwells inside, and outside as
well.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੪॥

नानक दरसनु देखि सभ मोही ॥४॥
O Nanak, beholding the Blessed
Vision of His Darshan, all are fascinated. ||4||
ਆਪਿ ਸਤਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸਤਿ ॥
Aap Sath Keeaa Sabh Sath ||
आपि सति कीआ सभु सति ॥
He Himself is True, and all that He
has made is True.
ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਸਗਲੀ ਉਤਪਤਿ ॥
This Prabh Thae Sagalee Outhapath
||
तिसु प्रभ ते सगली उतपति ॥
The entire creation came from God.
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
This Bhaavai Thaa Karae
Bisathhaar ||
तिसु भावै ता करे बिसथारु ॥
As it pleases Him, He creates the
expanse.
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
This Bhaavai Thaa Eaekankaar ||
तिसु भावै ता एकंकारु ॥
As it pleases Him, He becomes the
One and Only again.
ਅਨਿਕ ਕਲਾ ਲਖੀ ਨਹ ਜਾਇ ॥
Anik Kalaa Lakhee Neh Jaae ||
अनिक कला लखी नह जाइ ॥
His powers are so numerous, they
cannot be known.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Jis Bhaavai This Leae Milaae ||
जिसु भावै तिसु लए मिलाइ ॥
As it pleases Him, He merges us into
Himself again.
ਕਵਨ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਵਨ ਕਹੀਐ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
Kavan Nikatt Kavan Keheeai Dhoor
||
कवन निकटि कवन कहीऐ दूरि ॥
Who is near, and who is far away?
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
Aapae Aap Aap Bharapoor ||
आपे आपि आप भरपूरि ॥
He Himself is Himself pervading
everywhere.
ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਜਨਾਏ ॥
Antharagath Jis Aap Janaaeae ||
अंतरगति जिसु आपि जनाए ॥
One whom God causes to know that He
is within the heart
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੫॥
Naanak This Jan Aap Bujhaaeae

नानक तिसु जन आपि बुझाए ॥५॥
- O Nanak, He causes that person to
understand Him. ||5||
ਸਰਬ ਭੂਤ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
Sarab Bhooth Aap Varathaaraa ||
सरब भूत आपि वरतारा ॥
In all forms, He Himself is
pervading.
ਸਰਬ ਨੈਨ ਆਪਿ ਪੇਖਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
Sarab Nain Aap Paekhanehaaraa ||
सरब नैन आपि पेखनहारा ॥
Through all eyes, He Himself is
watching.
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਤਨਾ ॥
Sagal Samagree Jaa Kaa Thanaa ||
सगल समग्री जा का तना ॥
All the creation is His Body.
ਆਪਨ ਜਸੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੁਨਾ ॥
Aapan Jas Aap Hee Sunaa ||
आपन जसु आप ही सुना ॥
He Himself listens to His Own
Praise.
ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੁ ਇਕੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥
Aavan Jaan Eik Khael Banaaeiaa ||
आवन जानु इकु खेलु बनाइआ ॥
The One has created the drama of
coming and going.
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Aagiaakaaree Keenee Maaeiaa ||
आगिआकारी कीनी माइआ ॥
He made Maya subservient to His
Will.
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਰਹੈ ॥
Sabh Kai Madhh Alipatho Rehai ||
सभ कै मधि अलिपतो रहै ॥
In the midst of all, He remains
unattached.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣਾ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਹੈ ॥
Jo Kishh Kehanaa S Aapae Kehai ||
जो किछु कहणा सु आपे कहै ॥
Whatever is said, He Himself says.
ਆਗਿਆ ਆਵੈ ਆਗਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Aagiaa Aavai Aagiaa Jaae ||
आगिआ आवै आगिआ जाइ ॥
By His Will we come, and by His Will
we go.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਲਏ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੬॥

नानक जा भावै ता लए समाइ ॥६॥
O Nanak, when it pleases Him, then
He absorbs us into Himself. ||6||
ਇਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੁਰਾ ॥
Eis Thae Hoe S Naahee Buraa ||
इस ते होइ सु नाही बुरा ॥
If it comes from Him, it cannot be
bad.
ਓਰੈ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਕਛੁ ਕਰਾ ॥
Ourai Kehahu Kinai Kashh Karaa ||
ओरै कहहु किनै कछु करा ॥
Other than Him, who can do anything?
ਆਪਿ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
Aap Bhalaa Karathooth Ath Neekee
||
आपि भला करतूति अति नीकी ॥
He Himself is good; His actions are
the very best.
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥
Aapae Jaanai Apanae Jee Kee ||
आपे जानै अपने जी की ॥
He Himself knows His Own Being.
ਆਪਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਸਾਚੁ ॥
Aap Saach Dhhaaree Sabh Saach ||
आपि साचु धारी सभ साचु ॥
He Himself is True, and all that He
has established is True.
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਆਪਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੁ ॥
Outh Poth Aapan Sang Raach ||
ओति पोति आपन संगि राचु ॥
Through and through, He is blended
with His creation.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Thaa Kee Gath Mith Kehee N Jaae
||
ता की गति मिति कही न जाइ ॥
His state and extent cannot be
described.
ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
Dhoosar Hoe Th Sojhee Paae ||
दूसर होइ त सोझी पाइ ॥
If there were another like Him, then
only he could understand Him.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
This Kaa Keeaa Sabh Paravaan ||
तिस का कीआ सभु परवानु ॥
His actions are all approved and
accepted.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੭॥

गुर प्रसादि नानक इहु जानु ॥७॥
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, this is
known. ||7||
ਜੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jo Jaanai This Sadhaa Sukh Hoe ||
जो जानै तिसु सदा सुखु होइ ॥
One who knows Him, obtains
everlasting peace.
ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Aap Milaae Leae Prabh Soe ||
आपि मिलाइ लए प्रभु सोइ ॥
God blends that one into Himself.
ਓਹੁ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੁ ॥
Ouhu Dhhanavanth Kulavanth
Pathivanth ||
ओहु धनवंतु कुलवंतु पतिवंतु ॥
He is wealth and prosperous, and of
noble birth.
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
Jeevan Mukath Jis Ridhai
Bhagavanth ||
जीवन मुकति जिसु रिदै भगवंतु ॥
He is Jivan Mukta - liberated while
yet alive; the Lord God abides in his heart.
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਨੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
Dhhann Dhhann Dhhann Jan Aaeiaa
||
धंनु धंनु धंनु जनु आइआ ॥
Blessed, blessed, blessed is the
coming of that humble being;
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥

Tharaaeiaa ||
जिसु प्रसादि सभु जगतु तराइआ ॥
By his grace, the whole world is
saved.
ਜਨ ਆਵਨ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
Jan Aavan Kaa Eihai Suaao ||
जन आवन का इहै सुआउ ॥
This is his purpose in life;
ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
Jan Kai Sang Chith Aavai Naao ||
जन कै संगि चिति आवै नाउ ॥
In the Company of this humble
servant, the Lord's Name comes to mind.
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Aap Mukath Mukath Karai Sansaar
||
आपि मुकतु मुकतु करै संसारु ॥
He Himself is liberated, and He
liberates the universe.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥੮॥੨੩॥

O Nanak, to that humble servant, I

I worship and adore the Perfect Lord
God. Perfect is His Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥

नानक पूरा पाइआ पूरे के गुन गाउ ॥१॥
O Nanak, I have obtained the Perfect

सासि सासि सिमरहु गोबिंद ॥
With each and every breath, meditate
in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe,
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਉਤਰੈ ਚਿੰਦ ॥
Man Anthar Kee Outharai Chindh ||
मन अंतर की उतरै चिंद ॥
And the anxiety within your mind
shall depart.
ਆਸ ਅਨਿਤ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਤਰੰਗ ॥
Aas Anith Thiaagahu Tharang ||
आस अनित तिआगहु तरंग ॥
Abandon the waves of fleeting
desire,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੰਗ ॥
Santh Janaa Kee Dhhoor Man Mang

संत जना की धूरि मन मंग ॥
And pray for the dust of the feet of
the Saints.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
Aap Shhodd Baenathee Karahu ||
आपु छोडि बेनती करहु ॥
Renounce your selfishness and
conceit and offer your prayers.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਹੁ ॥

साधसंगि अगनि सागरु तरहु ॥

These are priceless rubies and gems.

सुनत कमावत होत उधार ॥
One who listens and acts on them is
saved.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥
Aap Tharai Lokeh Nisathaar ||
आपि तरै लोकह निसतार ॥
He himself swims across, and saves
others as well.
ਸਫਲ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥

सफल जीवनु सफलु ता का संगु ॥
His life is prosperous, and his
company is fruitful;
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥

जा कै मनि लागा हरि रंगु ॥
His mind is imbued with the love of
the Lord.

करि किरपा प्रभ आप मिलाए ॥
Bestowing His Mercy, God has blended
me with Himself.
ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਬੈਰ ਭਏ ਸਭ ਰੇਨ ॥
Mitt Geae Bair Bheae Sabh Raen ||
मिटि गए बैर भए सभ रेन ॥
Hatred is gone, and I have become
the dust of all.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਲੈਨ ॥

अम्रित नामु साधसंगि लैन ॥
I have received the Ambrosial Naam
in the Company of the Holy.

सुप्रसंन भए गुरदेव ॥
The Divine Guru is perfectly
pleased;

The service of His servant has been
rewarded.

I have been released from worldly
entanglements and corruption,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਤੇ ॥
Raam Naam Sun Rasanaa Kehathae ||
राम नाम सुनि रसना कहते ॥
Hearing the Lord's Name and chanting
it with my tongue.
ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

सुखमनी सहज गोबिंद गुन नाम ॥
Sukhmani is the peaceful ease, the
Glory of God, the Naam.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
Jis Man Basai S Hoth Nidhhaan ||
जिसु मनि बसै सु होत निधान ॥
When it abides in the mind, one
becomes wealthy.
ਸਰਬ ਇਛਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

सरब इछा ता की पूरन होइ ॥
All desires are fulfilled.

प्रधान पुरखु प्रगटु सभ लोइ ॥
One becomes the most respected
person, famous all over the world.

सभ ते ऊच पाए असथानु ॥
He obtains the highest place of all.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੁ ॥

बहुरि न होवै आवन जानु ॥
He does not come and go in
reincarnation any longer.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

हरि धनु खाटि चलै जनु सोइ ॥
One who departs, after earning the
wealth of the Lord's Name,

Comfort, peace and tranquility,
wealth and the nine treasures;

Budhh Giaan Sarab Theh Sidhh ||
बुधि गिआनु सरब तह सिधि ॥
Wisdom, knowledge, and all spiritual
powers;
ਬਿਦਿਆ ਤਪੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Bidhiaa Thap Jog Prabh Dhhiaan ||
बिदिआ तपु जोगु प्रभ धिआनु ॥
Learning, penance, Yoga and
meditation on God;
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
Giaan Sraesatt Ootham Eisanaan ||
गिआनु स्रेसट ऊतम इसनानु ॥
The most sublime wisdom and
purifying baths;
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
Chaar Padhaarathh Kamal Pragaas
||
चारि पदारथ कमल प्रगास ॥
The four cardinal blessings, the
opening of the heart-lotus;
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸ ॥
Sabh Kai Madhh Sagal Thae Oudhaas
||
सभ कै मधि सगल ते उदास ॥
In the midst of all, and yet
detached from all;
ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥
Sundhar Chathur Thath Kaa Baethaa
||
सुंदरु चतुरु तत का बेता ॥
Beauty, intelligence, and the
realization of reality;
ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥
Samadharasee Eaek Dhrisattaethaa
||
समदरसी एक द्रिसटेता ॥
Hese blessings come to one who
chants the Naam with his mouth,
ਇਹ ਫਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਨੇ ॥

इह फल तिसु जन कै मुखि भने ॥
These blessings come to one who,
through Guru Nanak,

गुर नानक नाम बचन मनि सुने ॥६॥
And hears the Word with his ears
through Guru Nanak. ||6||
ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
Eihu Nidhhaan Japai Man Koe ||
इहु निधानु जपै मनि कोइ ॥
One who chants this treasure in his
mind
ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sabh Jug Mehi Thaa Kee Gath Hoe
||
सभ जुग महि ता की गति होइ ॥
In every age, he attains salvation.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Gun Gobindh Naam Dhhun Baanee ||
गुण गोबिंद नाम धुनि बाणी ॥
In it is the Glory of God, the Naam,
the chanting of Gurbani.
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਬਖਾਣੀ ॥

सिम्रिति सासत्र बेद बखाणी ॥
The Simritees, the Shaastras and the
Vedas speak of it.
ਸਗਲ ਮਤਾਂਤ ਕੇਵਲ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥

सगल मतांत केवल हरि नाम ॥
The essence of all religion is the
Lord's Name alone.

गोबिंद भगत कै मनि बिस्राम ॥
It abides in the minds of the
devotees of God.
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੈ ॥
Kott Apraadhh Saadhhasang Mittai
||
कोटि अप्राध साधसंगि मिटै ॥
Millions of sins are erased, in the
Company of the Holy.
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੈ ॥

संत क्रिपा ते जम ते छुटै ॥
By the Grace of the Saint, one
escapes the Messenger of Death.

जा कै मसतकि करम प्रभि पाए ॥
Those, who have such pre-ordained
destiny on their foreheads,

साध सरणि नानक ते आए ॥७॥
O Nanak, enter the Sanctuary of the

जिसु मनि बसै सुनै लाइ प्रीति ॥
One, within whose mind it abides,
and who listens to it with love
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥

तिसु जन आवै हरि प्रभु चीति ॥
That humble person consciously
remembers the Lord God.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥

Nivaarai ||
जनम मरन ता का दूखु निवारै ॥
The pains of birth and death are
removed.
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
Dhulabh Dhaeh Thathakaal
Oudhhaarai ||
दुलभ देह ततकाल उधारै ॥
The human body, so difficult to
obtain, is instantly redeemed.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

निरमल सोभा अम्रित ता की बानी ॥
Spotlessly pure is his reputation,
and ambrosial is his speech.
ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
Eaek Naam Man Maahi Samaanee ||
एकु नामु मन माहि समानी ॥
The One Name permeates his mind.
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ॥
Dhookh Rog Binasae Bhai Bharam ||
दूख रोग बिनसे भै भरम ॥
Sorrow, sickness, fear and doubt
depart.
ਸਾਧ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ॥
Saadhh Naam Niramal Thaa Kae
Karam ||
साध नाम निरमल ता के करम ॥
He is called a Holy person; his actions
are immaculate and pure.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਨੀ ॥
Sabh Thae Ooch Thaa Kee Sobhaa
Banee ||
सभ ते ऊच ता की सोभा बनी ॥
His glory becomes the highest of
all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਗੁਣਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ॥੮॥੨੪॥

नानक इह गुणि नामु सुखमनी ॥८॥२४॥
O Nanak, by these Glorious Virtues,
